EXTENDED - Abstract Submissions Close on Friday, May 31, 2024 -

Abstracts

  • Selected YIA submissions will be invited to present in a dedicated session during the agenda. During the session presenters will be graded under the following categories: originality, scientific content, presentation, answers to questions. Up to three presentations abstracts will receive the Young Investigators Award.

    Abstracts that are not selected for the YIA competition will still be considered for a general abstract presentation.

    GCOS Young Investigators Award Competition Abstract submission requires:

    • CV and letter of recommendation

    • Abstract submission of 1,000 words maximum

    • Introduction/Purpose

    • Methods

    • Results

    • Conclusion(s)

    • You may enter up to 15 authors (please include all author names and affiliations)

    • Text may be accompanied by a maximum of two figures in JPEG or PDF format

    By default, the first author should be the presenter. If not, he/she needs to communicate the decision to the GCOS organization (gcos@umn.edu). Failure to upload and register for the GCOS will lead to withdrawal of the abstract from the scientific program.

    All expenses (travel, hotel, registration) associated with the submission and presentation of an abstract are under the responsibility of the presenter.

  • Anticipated timeline for both the General Abstract Submission and the Young Investigators Award Competition is as follows:

    January 2024 - Abstract Submissions Open

    Extended to May 31, 2024 - Abstract Submissions Close

    June 2024 - Selected Abstracts Notified & Presenter Information due

    September 2024 - Poster file due (for General Abstract Submissions only)

    All authors of selected abstracts will be required to complete a disclosure of financial relationships form. This form will be provided to you via email; you will be required to complete it by the stated deadline. Failure to do so jeopardizes your participation and that of your fellow authors. A review of your disclosed financial relationships may determine that a peer review of your materials for potential conflict of interest is required. You will be contacted directly if this is applicable to you and will be required to submit information by the requested deadline.

There are 3 opportunities to submit an abstract:

  1. GCOS Young Investigators Award Competition

  2. General Abstract Submission (poster presentation - clinical or research)

  3. Nursing Abstract (moderated poster presentation)

There is no fee to submit your abstract. Submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the author(s) to present the work in person in Minneapolis at GCOS 2024, if accepted. Work that has been previously presented is welcomed to be submitted/presented at GCOS.

To submit, you will be asked to create an account for Oxford Abstracts or login to an existing account.

  • Submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the author(s) to present the work in person in Minneapolis at GCOS 2024, if accepted. An estimated 50 - 75 abstracts will be selected for a poster presentation. Some submissions may also be invited to present at a research focused session at the GCOS Research Symposium on Sunday, September 22.

    General Abstract submission requires:

    • 2500 characters including spaces

    • Introduction/Purpose

    • Methods

    • Results

    • Conclusion(s)

    • You may enter up to 15 authors (please include all author names and affiliations)

    • Text may be accompanied by a maximum of two figures in JPEG or PDF format
